Dear all,

After this week's sail in great weather I have 2 questions:
1. Any experiences with twin crew? In this case total crew weight 150kg. I'd like to learn how much that reduces speed and planing in various winds.
2. My halyard is still slipping. I placed an order at RS for a new one but have received no reply for some time. If I go and buy some standard 4mm rope, c 16m, have you any suggestions of type? The surface should perhaps be rough rather than slick, offering max grip to the clamcleat on the mast.

Full sail report with video is on http://vikingvareo.wordpress.com/
best regards

Hi Per, Have you checked the cleat on the mast for wear? It may not be the halyard.

With regard to halyard material. I opted for a 4mm dyneema which is pre-stretched and a tough outer so not likely to wear easily. The halyard that RS sell has a kevlar braid in it making it very hard wearing indead but it is at least twice the price of some good quality race dyneema.

Thanks! I tried replacing both. But I didn't dare to drill out the old Clamcleat so I started with halyard. After replacing halyard it stopped slipping! Full report here:
